apparently I am Italian now...

My name has been botched in every way possible my whole life- I've gotten everything under the sun, and thought I had heard everything. I got a fax with this on it today.

It's from one of my kids social workers. I have left numerous voice mails for this lady and sent a fax to first, with my name on the cover sheet and in other multiple locations. Seriously. How hard is it?!

WE DID IT!

We finished our half-marathon on Saturday- it is such a relief that it's over! Josh has been sick and I wasn't feeling my best either- especially since I was so nervous the night before that I barely got any sleep!

At the start line- (we are the ones looking back) it was so exciting! It looked like the rain was holding off- but it pretty much rained the entire race. We were soaked at the end!

Gloriana finishing at 2:32- finally done! I was going strong at a really good pace  non stop for the first 9-10 miles. I was feeling awesome and on a total high. Then my body shut down and  had to walk/run the last 2-3 miles. I was so frustrated! But my legs just wouldn't run anymore. My hips were killing me.
We didn't get a picture of Josh finishing :( but he finished just 5 minutes after me. He had a rough race- after being sick the whole week before the race, after mile 8 he was hurting bad. We were both soaking wet from the rain and so tired, we couldn't wait to get home. Josh's dad came out to support us and take pictures.
We got medals for finishing- Josh loves his medal:) He was super excited to get a medal.

We are still so sore today- every muscle aches! I would like to do another one- but I think that we have to train totally differently next time. More strength training to get us through that second half I think. Anyway- we are happy it's over and our Saturday's wont be taken up by long runs anymore- at least not for a couple months...until we register for another one :)

SICK

so josh has been sick all week- like home sick from work, laid up, can't breathe, sore throat, etc and I am right behind him. I had to work yesterday, but I was nauseous all day, achy and my skin even hurt. We are both feeling a little better today, but are both taking the day off of work just in case. This does not look promising for our race tomorrow. We both only ran once this week- and our carb loading meal we were supposed to eat last night, just didn't happen because neither of us had an appetite. And it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Soooo... I am trying to be positive. We have worked so hard for this thing, I don't want it to be a bust! We need some serious prayers people.

mini toot

Not to take away from the baby excitement, but I just wanted to toot my own horn for a second... I ran 11 miles on Saturday! 11 miles! I feel like I can take on this half marathon next Saturday now. I only have to push through the last 2 miles now- so...toot toot!

I will update with race pics and how things went next week...

Dean Lucas Mullen

Josh's sister Sunny and her husband Rick just adopted a new little boy and he is so adorable. There is no question that he was supposed to come to them- they have an incredible story. They got approved to be adoptive parents on Wednesday and got a call the next day saying they had a baby waiting for them and they took him home that same day! What a miracle! They're going to be amazing parents and have been waiting so long for a baby that this little guy is going to be treasured beyond belief. We are so excited for them and to have a new baby in the family!

Sugar Crash...

...what happens the day after eating 5 extra large sugar cookies with frosting to "celebrate" Easter. I can't keep my eyes open- and wish I had a couch in my office to take a power nap on. Who ever heard of a therapist's office without a couch anyway! I feel sluggish, and have zero motivation to get anything done. You would think I would have learned by now that eating my weight in white sugar and white flour does NOT make for a happy girl. In the moment- very happy- 24 hours later- not so happy. For some reason I feel that I have to learn this lesson over and over and over...you get the picture.

Final Weigh In

So we had our final weigh in this weekend. I am so proud of Josh- he has lost 19 pounds! He has been a running machine- on Saturday he ran 9 miles and averaged 9 minute miles the whole time. He is going to kill this 1/2 marathon in May! I lost 10 pounds total- which I am happy with because I can get back into a lot of my clothes again. But it is not my final goal weight. I will probably never get down to my ultimate goal weight because I love things that taste good like french fries and brownies. But I am happy with my progress and plan to continue working at it. Hopefully I can lose a few more before the race so I don't have quite so much weight to heft around for 13.1 miles. But I feel like tooting the Miles horn today because I think we did great! Woot Woooooot!
