camping part un

As many of you know from a previous post, we went camping with Josh's family in the mountains of Cedar City, Utah this summer. Here are some pictures of our adventures. This will have to be done in more than one post- because we took a million pictures. So here goes. Our driving experience was... well it was like 12 hours long. Josh was tough while driving- here he is showing me his impressive guns- also the bugs on the windshield- yum!

we got there after dark- and had to set up our brand new never opened tent. If Josh's cousin Cory had not been there, I could not have done it- or maybe I would have started crying. But it looks good right? we got a big-un. We could have had a dance party in there if we had brought a disco ball with us- darn it!

we had a lot of adventures all week- I got to do stuff that I never had before- it was awesome. We went 4-wheeling, off- roading (this was just a girls trip, there was a lot of screaming and almost peeing in pants involved- thanks gina!) Josh also had me learn how to shoot his .22 He keeps it under our bed in case of intruders and wanted me to get used to using it. Let's just say that any intruders better watch themselves because this girl is a straight shooter and now knows her way around a .22 with her eyes closed.

We also went hiking in Zion National Park- it was amazing! and hot! but beautiful and so fun! We went with Josh's cousin Cory and his wife Gina, and Josh's sister Sunny- we had a blast and were reminded of how out of shape we are (ok that was just me- but whatever).
Blogger is being stupid and not letting me upload anymore pics. I will do a second post- part deux!

ok fine

i'm at Starbucks using their internet and feeling generous. so I will update. Please to enjoy some random pics from our adventures this summer- Josh took me the "The Phantom of the Opera" and a Brad Paisley concert (Jewel was there too- she rocked!) we had fun. The end.

Ball and Chain

That's how I feel about our blog at the moment. I don't have internet so figuring out how to post pictures is a real drag. I am at Starbucks right now- PAYING to use their internet. You would think with how many of them there are, and how much they charge for their drinks, you would be able to use the internet for free- but no. So I think until we actually get internet at our place, I will be taking a leave of absence from posting. I know it's a disappointment to all of the 5 people who read this blog, but sorry. I will add more pictures and start blogging again when I feel like it. See ya!

Sorry...

It's been a while. I do have more pictures to upload- I just don't have them with me right now. So it's a pictureless post. I am just tired of seeing that same post with the crate and barrel boxes.

So life is just as crazy as ever. This week it feels even more so. I finish at my Practicum site on Wed. Which is good and bad (Mostly good though) it's just that i have to catch up on mountains of paperwork that I have been putting off all year. It's kind of ridiculous. I will be turning in my last hours sheet next week and will receive my actual degree!! I know it's amazing. Then Thursday morning we will leave bright and early for Cedar City Utah to camp for a week with Josh's family. This is a huge and long standing tradition for the Miles family and I am excited to be a part of it! However, I just learned last night that we are "dry camping" for the first time. For those of you who are not familiar with this term, let me educate you. This word can strike fear into the heart of anyone who is a semi-camper. We like nature, we dont mind sleeping in a tent for a few days, but we LOVE coming back to a clean house where your feet dont get dirty 2 seconds after taking a shower.Ok- back on track: "Dry Camping" consists of just picking an area in the wilderness to slap your tent on. No campgrounds, no toilets, no showers. Josh would protest at this last statement- Yes there IS a shower! It's a shower tent!.... oh excuse me, we will have a shower. A shower TENT! and I get to go to the bathroom in the woods- no joke. NOT OK. So needless to say I am a little more nervous about this camping trip than ones I have done in the past.

After we get back from camping, my Mom is coming to Sac Town! Whohoooo!!! She is spending a few days with us before my brother Murphy's wedding in So. Cal. on Sept
6th. I can't wait for all of this- I love seeing my family they are so fun!

Then when we get back- I start my new job! I real job! That pays money! That actually wants me there! It's going to be a miracle. I am really excited for this can you tell?

So there is the update. I will be sure to post more pictures this weekend, when I have both the internet and my pictures in the same place. So until then...

After the Honeymoon :)

We waited a week after getting back from our honey moon to open our presents- which is ridiculous. But with our busy schedules and living a half an hour away from where the present were being kept- we had no choice. We were so blessed with how many presents we recieved- all of the money and gifts cards were amazing- people were so generous! We had to document the opening of the presents though- we were drowning in Crate & Barrel boxes!

JOsh started nursing school in January- and when we got back from our honeymoon, he started having to go to clinicals at the hospital every other weekend. So every other weekend I have to go to church alone- it's a bummer. But- I am so proud of him for everything he is doing. He is going to be a wonderful nurse- and in the meantime I get to hear about the different things he has had to do for patients- lots of butt wiping, bed pan changing, giving shots, bed baths and even removing a catheter from a male patient. When he got home he was so excited to tell me about it- I was excited for him because he has been waiting to do catheters for a while, but hadn't gotten the chance. A couple minutes after he told the story it dawned on me what removing a catheter entailed..."So how do you feel now that you have held another man's whohoohoohoo?" We had a good laugh about that. Here is a picture of him in his adorable uniform (haha) on his first day of clinicals. I was so nervous and excited for him I had to get up at 6:30 with him and take a picture to document the day:

He hates wearing the vest with a passion. He says that it's totally a girls outfit- he feels like such a dork in it. But I think he looks cute :)

Our Honeymoon

OK so we finally figured out how to get pictures back on this blog- it has been way too long- and I have been bursting to share all of the stuff we have been doing. So I will start from the beginning- (Warning- this will be the longest post ever.) Josh kept where we were going on our honeymoon a secret from me. It was so hard for him not to tell me- it was funny watching him have a daily fight with himself about whether or not to tell me. After we left the reception he told me that we were just going down town for the first night, which I was so happt about! I knew that he had planned to take me somewhere a bit far away, and I was not reallt looking forward to the long drive- it was a long day! Everyone tells you how tired you are going to be - but you never really understand until it happens to you. We were beat. The first place was the Amber House in downtown Sacramento- this adorable bed and breakfast. Everything was redone in this old house - and it was beautiful! All of the rooms were named- ours was the Emily Dickenson room. We had a huge heart shaped jacuzzi in our bathroom, a fire place, and breakfast brought to our room that next morning. Hello- home made croissants! It was fabulous.

The next morning we headed off to Mendocino! I had never been there before- and let me tell you, it is one of the most beautiful places on earth! We stayed at the MacCallum House- right on the water- with amazing food and all of these fun little artsy shops. We went to glass beach and collected some souvenirs and watched the amazing waves. It was so beautiful, we did not want to leave.

Our room: The main house and grounds: Having scrumptious breakfast on the porch: The town: Glass Beach:

We only stayed for three days- but it was a welcome escape from life and all of the craziness we had been dealing with before the wedding. We were sad to leave and get back to reality. Post coming soon: our trip to Connecticut for our second reception!
